Will Travel for Food

This is a topic that will probably come up a lot on our blog.  We love to travel for foodie trips, New York, Philadelphia, small towns out in the country, usually anywhere within driving distance.  Last week we took a huge leap forward in traveling for food.  On Tuesday I told Anliko I really wanted a burger from Maggie’s in Ouray, Colorado; By Thursday we were landing in Denver, stopping at OneFold my favorite breakfast spot, and driving the 6 hours south to Ouray!  A last minute weekend trip across country, all for a burger…. It was AMAZING!

We took off on Thursday morning early in order to make the most of the extended weekend and were in Colorado by 9am.  Grabbing the car we made our way over to OneFold for some bacon fried rice and endless coffee.  Fueled up we headed out to Ouray.  From Denver there is still a 6 hour drive to get to Ouray, but the scenery as you travel makes the time fly by.  We went a northern route driving through Vail/Breckenridge and west to Grand Junction before heading south.

How can a burger be worth it you ask?  It is everything about the burger, the large perfectly cooked patty with thick cut bacon piled on top.  It is the cold beer from Mr. Grumpy Pants of the Mr. Grumpy Pants Brewing Company next door.  It is also the environment, the small mountain town vibe and views that makes the burger, the beer and the meal as a whole perfect.

What are some of the foods you will travel a distance for?
